Six Marylanders reached the Freestyle Finals at Kids’ Nationals in Iowa on the last weekend of June. The Alliant Energy PowerHouse was the scene of Korbin Kiessling capturing his third consecutive USA Wrestling Triple Crown and fourth overall. Tanner McCray-Bey and Alexander Fernandez joined Kiessling as Freestyle Gold Medalists. Three from the powerhouse 14U squad came up short in their title quests, Esais Perez, Justin Wildy, Jr., and Brody Clemons. KIESSLING KILLS THE COMP

The Kids’ Nationals got underway on Friday at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Two of Rampage’s finest locked down Greco Roman National Championships, Korbin Kiessling (14U, 92 pounds) and Tanner McCray-Bey (12U and also at 92 pounds). Overall, five members of the history making 14U National Duals Team earned All-American Status. The Junior Freestyle Division is one of the final steps before wrestlers head off to college. In this realm, you will find mostly juniors and seniors, but there are the occasional young bucks that pop up, especially in the lighter weights. The point is, while you can sometimes coast in the 16U Division, that is not the case with the Junior slate as you will be pushed at every turn. This goes for Fargo and the recently completed Junior National Duals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. T
