Legacy Wrestling saw and recognized movement in the Top 10 this week - welcome South Carroll!
At the top we saw Gilman beat Loyola and Spalding to reinforce their No. 1 ranking.
South Carroll had a big week beating Manchester Valley and then Middletown on Friday night, which allowed us to overlook the close finish behind Damascus at the Parkside Tournament (for now at least.)
After South Carroll dropping in at No. 8, from Middletown down to Linganore stayed the same.
Huntingtown lost to North Point this week, which brings them down a touch and Kent Island had a win over Old Mill, who just beat South River this week, avenging their loss to the Seahawks from La Plata’s Warrior Duals.
South River beat C. Milton Wright at the Iron Horse Duals and Leonardtown beat Huntingtown recently after losing to the Hurricanes at Iron Horse. These flip flop results with Old Mill and Leonardtown are why you can’t focus on one match or tournament when it comes to team rankings. It’s more cut and dry with individual rankings but still gets murky. With teams, it’s pure chaos at times.
Huntingtown beat Sparrows Point and Northern Calvert this year. Northern Calvert beat North Point. Again, at this point in the season we have to evaluate more than a single match. The state championships will help us a lot and everything as they say "will be left on the mat."
Sparrows Point is very difficult to rank. At the season opening Scorpion Duals, they beat Middletown, La Plata, and North Point. At Iron Horse, they lost to Glenelg, Kent Island, C. Milton Wright, and Huntingtown.
So, those are just a few of the sporadic results that make team rankings close to impossible to do perfectly.
We are sure there are other ways to look at the data and but, on this beautiful Saturday morning, this is how Legacy Wrestling sees the team situation in Maryland.
We look forward to watching these teams give it their all as we head towards the end of the season.
