Winters Mill crowned juniors Gabbie McLeod (155) and Jade Love (235) along with sophomore Maiah Sweet (190) among its champions as the Falcons dethroned Francis Scott Key as Carroll County champions on Friday at Westminster High.
Finishing second for the Falcons were sophomores Carli Ireland (105), Christina Padilla (110), Maggie Morley (135) and Amelia Boddie (155) and juniors Mele James (145) and Addison Vallandingham (170) as the Falcons (124 points) overcame the runner-up Eagles (112).
McLeod improved to 16-0, Love, to 14-0, and Sweet, to 15-2 guided by Falcons' coach John Lowe, whose squad has won the past three county dual meet titles. McLeod and Love have pinned all of their opponents in the first period to remain unscored upon this season, Lowe said.
The runner-up Eagles had four title winners in juniors Ava Rupp (120) and Maddy Dehoff (145) along with seniors Keira Cooper (130) and Maria Arboleda (170).
Third-place Manchester Valley's champions were sophomores Brynn Ryan (115) and Addyson Grubb (135) as well as seniors Faith Day (100) and Layla Lagunas (110), with Day being a defending state champion.
Fourth-place Westminster crowned senior state champion Taylor Mead (140) and junior Caroline McCann (125), with freshman Aubrey Ohler (105) winning for Liberty.
