The weekend was a sweep at Severn Run for the Cobras, whose 35th-ranked boys (253 points) crowned 25th-ranked Christian Donlick (144) and junior Luca Tucciarella (106) among six finalists and 12 place-winners within the top four of their weight classes to overwhelm runner-up Sparrows Point (218) and third-place Catonsville (186) in the 2026 Wolf Pack Mayhem Tournament.
Placing second for the Cobras' boys were sophomores Hunter Lark (157) and Nicholas Gibson (165) along with 21st-ranked junior Cameron Moore (132) and senior Luke Dallaire (175).
James Seifert (285) finished third for the Cobras, with fourth-place efforts from junior Tyshon Little (126), sophomore Owen Barratt (138), freshman Brock Dreyer (150), senior Parker Sweeney (190) and junior Elijah Terry (215).
“Going into the tournament we were a little optimistic about our chances of being successful here. We wrestle a very tough schedule that was front-loaded with top 10 opponents, so those tests really have prepared us to wrestle through anything. Some of our kids didn’t get the best seeds,” said 10th-year Cobras’ coach Ja’Juan Burrell.
“That was simply because their strength of schedule had them coming into this tournament with an average record. But we stress to our guys that they should wrestle beyond their seed. At the end of the day, it’s just a space on a bracket and that doesn’t always tell the whole story. I think that we proved that with our performances in this tournament. Eight kids placed well above their seeds. One of our champions was originally a seventh seed, and another finalist was an 11th seed.”
A returning fourth-place finisher in Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference, Donlick pinned all three opponents comprising falls in 58 seconds, 5:31 and 2:31, the last in his title match with junior junior Israel Bile of Chesapeake-Baltimore County.
Tucciarella was equally dominant following a 32-second pin and another at 2:47 of his championship bout with Catonsville junior King Whitehurst.
Whitehurst finished third in last year's Baltimore County Tournament thanks to a 22-12 major decision over Perry Hall senior Hegan Chhantyal, a former county-runner who had placed first and second at regions.
The Cobras have a balanced squad with Dallaire being a regional runner-up who was sixth in the UCBACs, Moore having placed third at UCBACs, Little and Sweeney having finished fourth at UCBACs, and Seifert, sixth.
“I think that the future is bright for us. Not only do we stress that we should be peaking at the right time of the year but also laying the foundation for our junior varsity kids to be trained to take over and to keep the success going once the starters ahead of them graduate. More than half of our lineup had to pay their dues at the junior varsity level,” said Burrell.
“That happened before they could earn a spot on the varsity. That’s a bit of a testament to the kids’ commitment to getting better as well as my coaching staff’s abilities. We really are a blue-collar type of program. We don’t inherit a ton of blue-chip athletes as we don’t have a feeder program. We find the kids who want to get better and who want to work hard, and we build them up and give them the sort of training they deserve.”
Champions for the runner-up Pointers were 11th-ranked junior Brandon Wunder (126), 17th-ranked sophomore Chase Carnahan (138), 20th-ranked junior Ryan Whisner (150) and sophomore Mike Gartside (157).
Wunder used a fall in 1:41 and a 14-2 major decision to reach the finals, where required a 6-5 decision to defeat Catonsville's 16th-ranked sophomore Drew Eveleth.
Wunder is a returning Baltimore County champion who was second at regions and third at states last year. Eveleth rebounded from last year's county-runner-up finish following a 10-7 loss to Carnahan by winning a regional crown and placing fifth at states.
"The goal is simple: I just hope to perform at my best and to continue to win," Wunder said. "I'm excited for the end of the year, and it's going to be fun with a lot of good wrestling. I just hope to perform at my best and to continue to win."
Carnahan 's run comprised a 54-second pin, a 10-5 decision and a fall in 5:00 of his title match with Aberdeen junior Zoltan Pollock. Carnahan is a county champion who was third at regions a year ago.
"This season has been about the work behind the scenes as far as the grind, the growth and the trust we've built along the way. Every practice and every match, we're sharpening our skills," Carnahan said. "We're pushing each other to a higher level. The energy in the room is different, the confidence is rising, and the goals are big. We're building momentum."
A returning county runner-up who was fourth at regions last year, Whisner used pins in 45 and 89 seconds to reach his title bout and a 7-2 decision over Mount Carmel's 17th-ranked junior Evan Clarke.
Gartside navigated a path after pinning his first opponent in 1:44, earning a 9-8 semifinal victory before winning his title match, 4-1, over Lark.
The Comets crowned a pair of champions in 13th-ranked sophomore Owen Shelley (120) and junior Josh Agen-Davis (190), with Shelley earning Outstanding Wrestler honors.
A returning Baltimore County tournament runner-up who was first in the Class 4A-3A North Regionals last year, Shelley improved his record to 25-0 with 13 pins and three technical falls, using pins in 2:16 and 4:36 to reach his title match.
That's where Shelley earned an upset, 1-0 victory over fourth-ranked Wyatt Rossi of Sparrows Point, who went 39-1 last year as a Class 2A-1A state champion after having placed third as a freshman. Rossi is also after his third straight titles in both the Baltimore County and Class 2A-1A North Regional Tournaments.
Agen-Davis used a 42-second fall and an 11-2 major decision to reach his title match against Aberdeen senior Grant Akers, whom he blanked, 10-0.
There were four title-winners from fourth-place Mount Carmel, comprising juniors Logan Savage (165), Jakayveon Burton (175) and 9th-ranked Tavon Mitchell (215), plus 12th-ranked sophomore Samora Wolokie (113). Wolokie and Burton added the Wolf Pack Mayhem crown to the one they captured at the Jan. 9-10 Franklin Invitational.
A returning sixth-place finisher at Maryland Private/Independent School States, Wolokie earned an 18-2 technical fall before dominating his title match by 17-4 major decision over Severn Run junior Sydney Thompson.
Burton, who was sixth at MIAAs last year, recorded pins in 61 seconds and 1:46 before handling Dallaire by 17-6 major decision in the finals.
Mitchell recorded consecutive pins in 1:44 and 1:54 before winning his title match by 4-0 decision over Severn senior Talin Krashoc, who was fifth at MIAAs last year.
In succession, Savage pinned all three opponents in 43 and 74 seconds as well as 2:39, the last in his championship bout against Gibson.
Other title-winners were Randallstown's 10th-ranked senior Keon Stewart (235) and Milford Mill's 18th-ranked senior Christian Wright (132).
Stewart scored falls in 5:28 and 81 seconds, the latter in the finals against Mount Carmel junior Cole Bryant. Stewart was second, second and sixth at last year's Baltimore County, regional and Class 2A-1A state tournaments.
Wright used a fall in 5:21 and a 17-1 technical fall to reach the finals, where he won by 19-6 major decision over Moore. Wright placed third in last year's Baltimore County and regional tournaments.
