Legacy Wrestling Joins Forces with SI to Power National Wrestling Coverage

Legacy Wrestling is going national.

Today we’re proud to announce a partnership with Sports Illustrated and their High School On SI platform, the high school sports arm, to produce national boys and girls high school wrestling rankings and deliver expanded coverage of the sport from coast to coast.

The news was announced this morning by High School On SI, and it marks the biggest step forward in Legacy Wrestling’s history.

What’s changing:

Starting now, Legacy Wrestling and High School On SI will combine resources, expertise and platforms to cover wrestling at the local, state and national levels. Together we will:

  • Produce and maintain national boys and girls rankings across every weight class — built on shared research, results tracking and head-to-head analysis.

  • Cover the biggest tournaments in the country — championship events, major invitationals, standout performances and the stories behind them.

  • Spotlight emerging talent — the prospects, national contenders, championship programs and coaches who deserve a bigger stage.

  • Put girls wrestling on equal footing — female athletes will be ranked, covered and recognized alongside the boys. Full stop!

What it means for the Maryland and D.C. wrestling community

Nothing we’ve built here goes away. Our Maryland and D.C. individual rankings, Top team rankings, middle school coverage and event calendar stay exactly where they are — and they get stronger. The regional knowledge and relationships we’ve built across this area now connect directly to a national platform, which means more eyes on our wrestlers, more recognition for our programs and a bigger pipeline from the DMV to the national stage.

Why we’re doing this

Legacy Wrestling has one mission: to inspire and enable young wrestlers to pursue excellence on and off the mat. Too many great wrestlers — especially girls, and especially athletes outside the traditional powerhouse states — never get the national attention their results have earned. This partnership is how we fix that.

“We started Legacy Wrestling to make sure kids in Maryland and D.C. got the recognition they deserved. Partnering with Sports Illustrated lets us do that for wrestlers in every state. Our rankings and coverage are only going to get better from here.” — Legacy Wrestling
